Dear Nancy

Sometimes affirmations suck. Sometimes I don't want to be nice and cheery and smiley, sometimes I just want to have a blah day because it's due.

But sometimes being unkind and cheerless and sad toward yourself isn't good, so to get back on track, I wrote myself a letter:

Dear Nancy,

The time has come for you to take stock in yourself and show what you are really all about. Writing, thinking, doing, the same shit over and over does not make you good at anything. Among other things you're a writer, so write.

You've been stuck for so long, judged in your own mind by influences of those you really don't give a damn about and yet you base your work on what they say. It isn't even new news Nance, it's old shit, archivable, even disposable.

You're a good person - considerate, thoughtful, generous, and sensitive, serious and somewhat moody, but that's okay - you're okay.

So put all that baggage on a flight to nowhere and walk proudly into the real you.

You can do it. You are worth it. You will succeed because you always have. You have the fortitude, the sense and the ability to rise to a greater awareness and to give that to the world, so do it.

I will always be here for you. I love you.

                                                                       Always,
                                                                           Nancy

It helped quite a bit, more than I expected.

The point here is that when you know that you're good at something, or that you're a good person, you have to stay in that mindset, even when life sings you the blues. You have to do it because you represent yourself, you design your life. And remember that there are parts of you that always will be better than each person you know.

Maybe you need to remind yourself in a letter.

This was definitely a great way to communicate with yourself. It is always easier to believe the other things people say about us and our own opinion about ourselves gets lost somehow.

I definitely think that you are a great person and very intelligent too. So what if you are a bit moody? Who isn't?

Thanks for this tip.

Hi Nancy. I just followed Murees over from her blog where she gave out the Liebster Awards and thought I'd say hi.
